Abstract:

Scenography in Museums’ Display Design through Storytelling

Stories are a set of techniques and tools that transform information into emotion through translating data elements to communicate with the audience; as such, stories are tools for life. There is no design in silence; every design expresses an event or experience, especially museums design. They are dramatic and dynamic spaces that contain many elements and narrative symbols in display to express design concepts.

The designer is a dreamer and a storyteller; in consequence, the architect and the interior designer are interested in storytelling and communication through museums spaces. Museums explore a series of theatrical performances and scenography to conceptualize and generate a challenge to the visitors for an atmosphere of imagination.

Scenography is the art of theater space design to achieve the objectives of theatrical presentation. It tells the audience a story through a motivating content that draws their attention and encourages them to share their different experiences in the exhibition halls through the narration of the story’s content in several forms and structures.

The session explores the power of storytelling, scenography, and theatrical scenes in the display spaces through merging them in the museums’ display; moreover, it sheds light on the role of museums in the communication and connection through a futuristic view.
