The Power of Networks

Since its founding, the Exploratorium has helped to create, or participated in, a variety of different networks. Some of these networks have been based around exhibits, others around teacher professional development and others around specific topics like nanotechnology. Many networks combine several of these elements. Networks can help science center achieve together what single institutions can't. Some have been local, others regional and others international. In this session we will discuss the ingredients for a launching and maintaining a successful network. Questions include: how do you determine the size and focus of a network? How do you find the right partners? How is decision-making distributed or shared?
