Biography:

Enrico M. Balli is the head of the Medialab, the Science Communication unit of the International School for Advanced Studies in Trieste.
He holds a Master fo Business Administration and has been marketing and communication director in some of the major publishing companies and media agencies in Italy and abroad.
He is a specialist in developing education and communication project using different media since 1980.
He seats in the Steering Committees of several European Research Networks.

Training as a tool to fill the gap between Research and Innovation: the SISSA experience

SISSA (the International School for Advanced Studies) has a longstanding tradition in exporting the scientific know how to the world of communication and business.
More specifically, since a few years, SISSA started to experiment many different training courses for both scientist and future entrepreneurs.
More recently, the culture of innovation was also offered to children and younger students thru a specific series of programs.
The MSC (Master in Science Communication) was born more than 20 years ago, and it is one of the most important in Europe-
The MCA (Master in Complex Actions) is now in its 4th year and has already seen a good number of innovative startups founded by former students.
The training program launched more recently by SISSA’s Medialab is a series of Masteclasses that are bringing to Trieste young scientists and professionals from all over the World to create new opportunities of innovative businesses.
