Biography:

Degree in Philosophy at the University of Naples. In 1987, together with the physicist Vittorio Silvestrini, he set up "Futuro Remoto: A journey between science and science-fiction", the most prestigious annual scientific event in Italy. In 1990 he co-founded Fondazione IDIS-Città della Scienza and he was appointed General Director, a position he held until 2005. He has always been heavily involved in the promotion of scientific culture at an international level, leading many European projects related to science and society, like setting up a cooperative peace project in the Middle East with Israeli and Palestinian institutions. He has also promoted projects for setting up new science centers in African countries. Together with UNESCO he was responsible for drafting the project for a science centre in Iraq. In 2008 he was appointed Delegate of ECSITE in the IPC (International Program Committee) for the World Congress of Science Centers and Museums. He is currently the head of the Institutional Communication Department of Naples City Council. In 2008 he was appointed member of the General Council of the Universal Forum of Cultures which will be held in Naples in 2013. He is a member of the executive committee of Fondazione IDIS-Città della Scienza. From June 2007 to June 2009, he was appointed President of ECSITE, after being the Vice-president and the Treasurer of the association.
