Alan Draeger

Biography:

Alan Draeger is an Associate Director at the American Museum of Natural History, responsible for developing and managing international collaborations with museums and other cultural and scientific institutions in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. This includes responsibility for the development of new products including the leasing of intellectual property rights, as for example to enable the Library of Alexandria in Egypt to mount a version of the AMNH's Einstein exhibition; and the customization of traveling exhibitions, such as the current project to create an international version of the AMNH's Darwin exhibition.

Mr. Draeger's previous AMNH experience includes serving as the operations manager for the museum's extensive program of traveling exhibitions both in the USA and overseas; and as a developer in the museum's exhibition department, where he had project management responsibility for varied projects such as the Einstein, Petra and Pearls exhibitions.

Prior to joining AMNH, Mr. Draeger had a 25-year career with financial services group HSBC Holdings plc, having served as an international manager in Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Solomon Islands, India, the USA and the UK, with extensive business travel in Asia and the Americas. Responsibilities included at various times the global marketing and product initiatives for the HSBC Group's Financial Institutions business; internal audit of all HSBC branches in the Americas; and Country Manager in the Solomon Islands.

A British citizen but a permanent resident in the USA, Mr. Draeger holds an MA in History from Cambridge University and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
